Thought for the day: The profound term ‘guru’
The term ‘guru’ is incredibly profound which emanates a positive energy even as it's spelled.

A man, in search of a guru who possessed mystical powers, once reached a monastery. He requested the head monk there to accept him as a disciple. To test whether the man is obedient, the monk asked him to cross a river which was full of man–eating crocodiles. The man was promised that if he crosses the river without fear, he would be made a disciple.

To everyone’s surprise, the man fearlessly waded through the river muttering, 'May my guru save me'. The monk was astonished to find that he possessed such great powers which helped the man to cross the river. Without thinking twice, the monk too got into the river saying, “Let me be my own savior”. But the monk was attacked by a swarm of crocodiles and was killed.

The one who possesses the humility to realize the insignificance of the 'self' would be transformed into a good teacher. Those who are willing to shed the garb of pride and selfishness deserve the glorious robe of the guide and the leader.

The minds of those who set out to remove darkness of the world should be illuminated. Nothing should be able to cover the light of knowledge and humility that they possess. None would hold the small lamp which would be put off even by a light breeze. Those who cannot illuminate themselves will eventually fade away.

If one works hard with confidence and faith, then it will yield unexpected results. It indeed is a good fortune to have someone whom we could depend on completely. The paths traversed by the one who is trained by an able teacher wouldn’t be wrong. Obedience, which isn’t bound by rules or conditions, would inspire people to be extraordinarily efficient.

The strength of faith of the believer would become the energy and inspiration of the one who is invoked. God will never turn away from those who repose faith in him. The term ‘guru’ is incredibly profound which emanates a positive energy even as it's spelled.
