Uber launches quadricycle in Bengaluru in tie-up with Bajaj

UberXS

Uber riders in Bengaluru have reasons to rejoice. Rides are going to be cheaper and quicker, with the launch of UberXS, a brand new category positioned between UberAuto and UberGo, in partnership with Bajaj Auto. Bajaj Qute offered on UberXS is the first quadricycle in India and is a real stunner.

Qute, launched recently is more than an auto rickshaw. We took Qute for a drive and were impressed by its manoeuvrability, which comes handy in city drives. It has the smallest turning radius of 3.5 metres and is easy to park. Powered by a 216cc 4-valve water cooled DTSi engine, Qute is fuel efficient and is available in petrol and CNG variants.

UberXS is “an extension of Uber’s commitment towards lowering transportation costs, enhancing asset utilisation and improving rider convenience,’’ said Nandini Maheshwari, head, Business Development, Uber India and South Asia.

Samardeep Subandh, senior vice president of Bajaj Auto holds high hopes for Qute. It can address the mobility issues of congestion and pollution arising from rapid urbanisation, he said.

The UberXS will be available on the app from Thursday onwards. It will have a base fare around Rs 13.50. Currently, it will be operational in Indira Nagar, HSR Layout, Koramangala, and certain parts of Outer Ring Road. Riders in other parts of the city can also choose this smart solution for urban commuting soon.

In a bid to make urban transportation congestion free and eco-friendly, Uber has also partnered with Yulu in Bengaluru to offer e-bikes.
