Surjit Bhalla to deliver Manorama Budget lecture on July 8

Kochi: The annual Malayala Manorama Budget lecture will be held at the Le Meridien International Convention Centre here at 6 pm on July 8.

The speech will be delivered by well-known economist Surjit S. Bhalla. This will be the 20th speech in the Manorama Budget series.

Assessing the Budget presented by Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman on July 5, Bhalla will also observe how its proposals will impact Kerala.

A former member of the Prime Minister's Economic Advisory Council, Bhalla is also a member of the advisory council of the 15th Finance Commission. He is also a senior India analyst at the New York-based Observatory Group, a macroeconomic policy advisory firm.

A doctorate holder from Princeton University, Bhalla has taught at the Delhi School of Economics. After his stints as a researcher at the World Bank and as a consultant at Warburg Pincus, he worked at Deutsche Bank and Goldman Sachs.

An author of several researches and books, he is also an eminent speaker.
