Vaikom: It was a heart-wrenching sight – a dog with its head stuck inside an aluminum pot running berserk across the town.
The poor animal, probably looking for water, had ducked its head in the pot and just could not free itself. The scared animal then ran astray for more than an hour.
It was a bunch of tiny tots at an anganawadi near Vallakom sub station who first spotted the dog. The frightened students then quickly alerted their teacher, who called the fire force.
The firemen swung into action and reached the spot in no time. One personnel held its hind legs, while another carefully cut the pot. The animal was freed within 15 minutes.
As the fire force turned savior for the hapless dog, it was a great relief for not only the canine but also for the bunch of anganawadi kids. The 'rescue' mission was headed by assistant fire station officer T. Shajikumar and his team.
