Thiruvananthapuram: The CPI has taken objection to CPM leader Anathalavattom Anandan’s statement questioning the party’s ability to do things on its own.
"Let us see who can do what going solo, CPI Kerala secretary Kanam Rajendran said.
Ministers from the CPI had stayed away from a recent cabinet meeting as per a party decision, he said.
That wasn’t a boycott as such, just that they had not attended it. They followed party instructions, Rajendran said.
He said there was no discord within the party over the controversy relating to the resignation of Thomas Chandy from the Pinarayi Vijayan ministry.
The decision on the matter was made unanimously, the CPI secretary said, adding that he didn’t know why party leader K.E. Ismail made a comment that suggested otherwise.
Rajendran said he didn’t also know what happened to Ismail after the party meeting on the matter which the latter had also attended.
CPM leader Anandan had said that the CPI could do little on its own.
Raising doubts about the stand of the CPI within the Left Front, he had said that the CPI was trying to portray the government in a bad light.
CPM had earlier dubbed the CPI ministers' move to stay away from the cabinet meeting as an immature act.
