Thiruvananthapuram: Senior bureaucrat Paul Antony will be appointed the next chief secretary of Kerala.
Antony is secretary, industries, now.
The decision was taken by the state cabinet on Tuesday. Antony will succeed K M Abraham who will retire from service on December 31.
Antony has served as both chairman and managing director of Kerala State Electricity Board Ltd.
Antony was named the third accused in the nepotism case that led to CPM leader E P Jayarajan's resignation as the state industries minister. Though Antony had written to the chief secretary seeking to know if he was supposed to continue as industries secretary after the FIR was filed against him, minister A C Moitheen let him stay on the post as he was content with the official's service.
