Hanan to be back on feet soon, dad is back as guardian

Hanan's condition improves; father back as guardian
Hanan's father Hamid arrived at the hospital on Thursday afternoon and took over his daughter's care.

Kochi: Hanan Hamid, the 20-year-old actor-singer who touched the hearts of Keralites by selling fish to support her studies, was injured in a car accident earlier this week. The Kochi resident suffered a spine injury in the mishap which was later corrected in a surgery at a private hospital in Ernakulam. As good news for her well-wishers, Hanan told Onmanorama that she has regained the mobility of her limbs which had gone numb after the accident.

“I can move my hands and legs now. The wounds are yet to heal. I am having proper meal and rest these days,” she said cheerfully. Her doctors said Hanan will be able to walk on her own within a week. However, she  will be discharged from the hospital only after two more weeks, after her wounds heal.

“Now that I am able to access the internet, I realise that some websites spread the word that I am paralysed. Though I had lost the sensation of my limbs immediately after the accident, I have regained my mobility. I am getting ready to resume my work-life,” the young woman said.

Hanan is all set to hand over the advance amount for her new fish-stall at Thammanam, once she is out of the hospital. The production schedules of the movies which she had signed up for have been postponed so as to help the ailing actor. “I am not backing out from any professional commitment. Only I know how much pain I took to secure them,” a determined Hanan said.

Father at bed-side

Hamid, Hanan's father who was estranged from his family, has reunited with his daughter. Hamid arrived at the hospital on Thursday afternoon and took over his daughter's care. “I have always had immense love for my daughter. I had become an alcoholic as many of you know. I regretted my actions when the story of Hanan's sufferings appeared on national media. I feared people would call me an opportunist if I return to her when she became popular. Now that she is injured and needs love and support, I have come back to my daughter. I shall take care of her now on. Hanan will no more be an orphan,” Hamid said.

Once discharged from the hospital, Hanan will move in with her father to a rented flat in Kochi. “I would take some more time to recover. The government has sponsored my treatment. My father can find a livelihood in Kochi,” Hanan said.
