Kochi: Kerala minister A C Moideen said on Friday that the state government will meet the expenses of college student Hanan Hamid recovering from a recent road accident.
Moideen, who holds the local administration portfolio, visited Hanan at Kochi's Medical Trust hospital on Friday. The 21-year-old undergraduate of a Thodupuzha college is being treated for spinal injuries she suffered in the September 3 mishap at Kothaparambu near Kodungallur, 42 km north of this city.
Hanan, a native of Thrissur, thanked the minister, adding that she would return to the market at Thammanam, near Kochi, once she fully recovers. A video showing her selling fish here after her college hours earned Hanan fame after a TV channel telecast her story.
At the hospital bed, too, Hanan is not whiling away time. “There is exam coming up. I am preparing for it,” Hanan added, cheerful as usual.
Doctors have prescribed the patient a six-week rest before she returns to routine life.
Hanan, born as the eldest to an electrician-homemaker couple, is a third-year BSc chemistry student at Al-Azhar College of Arts and Science at Thodupuzha, 60 km east of Thammanam where she lives.
