Moving images of flood rescue now come alive on pebbles

Kozhikode: The image of a dramatic rescue of a child across the Cherthoni bridge, which was about to be overflown by a swollen river during the August flood, is still etched in the memory of may Keralites. The state witnessed numerous other such moving scenes during the unprecedented rain and subsequent flood a few months ago. Now, V Sharun, a young artist based in Kozhikode, is immortalising some of these incidents by depicting them on small round silica stones.

The other flood images that formed the subject of his silica art are those on the rescue of a pregnant woman by a helicopter and the daring action of fishermen in various areas.

Sharun, a medical representative, is a resident of Vadakkayil, Koliyilthazham, near Choyi Bazaar at Cherukulam. As he would be out in connection with his work during the day, he engages in painting at home at night.
