Kozhikode: Muslim Youth League general secretary P K Firoz has levelled fresh allegations against Minister for Minority Welfare K T Jaleel over the appointment of his cousin K T Adeeb to the post of general manager of the Kerala State Minority Development Finance Corporation (KSMDFC).
As the nepotism row rages, Firoz came out with incriminating documents to negate Jaleel's claims that Adeeb was drawing a monthly salary of Rs 1.10 lakh at South Indian Bank where he was previously employed. As per the salary slip made public by Firoz, Adeed’s salary, including allowances, was Rs 85,664,29.
“The minister still maintains that his cousin's monthly salary at South Indian Bank where had been holding the post of manager was Rs 1.10 lakh. He has been peddling lies to mislead the general public,” Firoz told the media here on Thursday.
Firoz also produced a copy of the letter submitted by Adeeb after receiving the first month’s salary from the corporation in which he sought allowances under eight categories including entertainment and leisure.
Firoz also alleged that Adeeb was induced to quit his job with South Indian Bank and manufacture a letter for deputation to join KSMDFC as general manager. He would not have resigned from his previous job without getting assurance from the minister. His resignation letter, which is currently with the bank authorities, should be impounded,” he demanded.
Taking a dig at Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, he said: “The chief minister, who is Jaleel’s godfather in politics, is conveniently ignoring the grave nepotism charges levelled against the minister. He is yet to make a comment on the matter."
