Kollam: N K Premachandran, MP, will be the Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP) candidate from Kollam for the upcoming Lok Sabah elections, party state secretary A A Azeez has said.

RSP and the United Democratic Front had no difference of opinion on candidature and Premachandran will be the front's sole candidate from the constituency, he said.

The CPM had ulterior motives in stating that Premachandran was instrumental in getting Prime Minister Narendra Modi to inaugurate the Kollam bypass. The CPM was trying to denigrate the exemplary work of the MP in Parliament and out, Mr. Azeez said.

RSP will hold political explanatory campaigns against CPM's agenda to portray Premachandran as a Sangh Parivar sympathiser, the party secretary said.

However, RSP, being a member of the UDF, the Congress-led front has to take a call on his candidature. There has not been any official word from the UDF in this regard.
