3 Bengali workers killed as tanker lorry rams pickup in Malappuram

Malappuram: Three migrant workers died when the pickup van they were travelling in was hit by a tanker lorry on a section of the Kozhikode-Palakkad National Highway here around 6:30am on Tuesday morning.

The dead have been identified as S K Sadath (40), S K Sabir Ali (41) and Saidul Khan (37).

The deceased are reportedly from West Bengal. They were travelling in the cargo bed of the vehicle when the accident happened near the petrol pump at Kootilangadi.

There were six passengers besides the diver in the pickup van. Its driver, a Makkaraparambu native, is in hospital.

The lorry hit a van first and rammed into the pickup.
