Nedumangad: In a twist to the recent murder of a teen girl at Nedumangad in Kerala's Thiruvananthapuram district, the ongoing probe suggested that the plus-one student

could have been alive when she was thrown into a well by her mother and paramour. It has also been confirmed that both did smother the 15-year-old after she objected to her mother's dalliance with a local youth and a likely bid to marry her off to him.

The teenager could have been killed as she resisted her mother Manjusha’s attempts to marry her off to her lover, cops stated after interrogating Manjusha and her lover Aneesh.

It is suspected that the murder was committed on June 11.

The police hinted that Meera, 15, had resisted her mother’s move to get her married off to Aneesh. Manjusha planned to continue her relationship with Aneesh by getting her daughter married to him.

However, Meera did not like Aneesh and her mother's relationship with him. She refused to concede to her wishes. Meera had questioned her mother after she spent time with Aneesh at her room around 9.30 pm on June 10.

The duo then strangled Meera with the dupatta' while she was sitting in her room. She fell unconscious.

Assuming that the teenager has died, the duo took her to Aneesh's house on his bike. However, as the two reached the well, they said they noticed some movements. They then tied bricks to her body and dumped it into the well, cops said.

However, the police said only after checking the details of the autopsy report can it be confirmed whether Meera was alive as she was hurled into the well.

Meera used to live with Manjusha at a rented home in Nedumangadu. According to police, Manjusha, who has been living separately from her husband, started an affair with the neighbour and this had enraged the girl.

Manjusha had initially given a statement that her daughter had committed suicide after she scolded her and she had dumped the body in the well near Aneesh's house.

Last week Meera's body was found in a well in a highly decomposed stage several days after she went missing.

Manjusha reportedly told her husband that their daughter had been missing since June 10. Claiming that she was going in search of her daughter in Tirupur in Tamil Nadu, Manjusha had ed with Aneesh. As there was no communication even after days, Manjusha's father Rajendran filed a complaint with the police, who managed to track them down.
