Answer sheets, official's seal seized from house of University College stabbing case accused

Thiruvananthapuram: In a shocking development related to the University College stabbing case, the police have seized Kerala University answer sheets from the house of an accused.

The answer sheets were found from the house of Sivaranjith, who had allegedly stabbed Akhil, a college student.

Sivaranjith is the SFI unit president of University College.

His house at Karthika Nagar, Medamukku in Attukal, was inspected by Cantonment police.

Apart from the additional answer sheets, the police recovered the seal of a Physical Education official from the house. Reporters who reached the spot were manhandled by relatives of the accused.

The development comes amid allegations that SFI leaders cleared exams by resorting to malpractices.

The police raided the houses of the SFI leaders after launching a probe into complaints that these youths had found a place in the rank list for police personnel through dubious ways.

The Special Branch has already started an investigation into charges that the SFI members were given special consideration and allotted University College itself as the centre for the Public Service Commission (PSC) exam for the police appointments.

The police will now approach PSC for details.

Meanwhile, former DGP T P Senkumar demanded the rank list be cancelled and a re-examination held after the murder accused became the toppers in the PSC exam. According to Senkumar, it was suspicious that the first accused in the murder case also came first in the rank list for police constables.

The PSC had published the rank list for appointments as police constables at KAP 4 Battalion at Kannur on July 1.

It was also reported that the accused had written the exam at centres in Thiruvananthapuram.

The PSC will examine whether the SFI members were allotted exam centres in the state capital by tampering with the hall tickets.

While Sivaranjith is the first rank holder, Nasim has 28th rank. P P Pranav, another SFI leader in University College, is placed second.

There were allegations that all of them had written the exam in University College itself.

However, the hall tickets show that Nasim’s centre was Thycaud Government College and Pranav had written the exam in Attingal.

Doubts still persist over whether they were allotted centres in Thiruvananthapuram based on political influence.

The hall tickets of the three SFI members have been marked as ‘revised admission ticket’, give rise to suspicion that the exam centre was changed. The PSC will examine the matter on Monday.
