Thiruvananthapuram: Mystery over a missing woman was unravelled at Amburi in Kerala's Thiruvananthapuram district on Wednesday with the police tracking down her body behind an Army soldier's house, which is under construction.

According to police, 30-year-old Rakhi, who was missing for weeks, was having an affair with Akhil S Nair, who is a soldier.

The body of Rakhi from Thirupuram near Neyyattinkara was buried behind Akhil's house. Rakhi, who was working at a private cable manufacturing company in Ernakulam, had been missing since June 21.

The police said Akhil had promised to marry Rakhi but he got engaged to another woman recently. When Rakhi came to know of this, she questioned him which led to an argument between the two. Rakhi had also visited the house of Akhil's fiancees and revealed details of their affair, which further infuriated Akhil.

Later, Akhil called Rakhi to his home and murdered her with the help of a few accomplices, the police said.

One of the accused has been taken into custody, while two are under surveillance, the police said.

Rakhi's relatives had filed a complaint with the Poovar police after she went missing. During the probe, it was found that Rakhi had not gone to her office after June 21. By tracking her phone call records, the cops came to know that she was in a relationship with Akhil.

The police probe was focussed on three youths. Based on information given by one of Akhil's friends, the police reached his house at Amboori and found the body.
