Idukki: A video has emerged of Wasim, the main suspect and co-conspirator behind the murder of Shanthanpara resident Rijosh, on Thursday confessing to the crime. This comes amidst intensified search by the police to nab the culprits.

In the video, Wasim confessed to the crime and took sole responsibility for it. He asked the police to release his brother and friends from custody. Police are yet to verify Wasim's whereabouts.

The police had questioned Wasim's brother and a staff member of the Mushroom Hut Resort at Puthadi in connection with the case. They suspect that Wasim, who is the manager of the resort, had conspired to kill his friend Rijosh, with the help of Rijosh's wife, Liji. The duo, who are believed to be having an affair, are absconding.

Rijosh's body was found buried near a private resort earlier, a week after he was reported missing. An excavator operator had testified before the police that he was contracted by Wasim to cover the pit. He said that he was told that a cow was buried in the pit and he had to dump more earth over it to contain the stink.

Relatives of Rijosh, aged 37, had lodged a complaint with the police after both Liji and Wasim went missing. It was what aroused suspicion on the duo.
