Kozhikode: The city police busted a drug racket and taken into custody eight persons, including a woman from a lodge at Mavoor Road here on Wednesday.
According to the police, six grams of psychotropic drug MDMA commonly known as ecstasy, and 500 grams of hashish were seized.
The initial assumption is that the drugs are worth at least Rs 2.5 lakh.
The eight persons, all natives of Kozhikode, were staying in four rooms for the past three days, according to a report on Manorama News. Initially, they had claimed that they were in the city to celebrate a birthday.
The police suspect the accused to be part of an inter-state racket and are probing the possibility of drugs stacked at various locations in the district.
According to reports, the police had earlier questioned the suspects separately.
