Vigilance raid on Aluva flat of PCB engineer, cash found stashed in vessels

Aluva: Rs 17 lakh cash stashed in vessels was unearthed during a Vigilance raid at the residence of an engineer of the Kerala State Pollution Control Board.

The engineer A M Harris was arrested on charges of receiving Rs 25,000 from an industrialist based in Kottayam.

The raid was carried on Wednesday at a flat in Aluva and it concluded at midnight. At the flat, the cash was found hidden in a pressure cooker and rice pot.

The Aluva flat is worth Rs 80 lakh at current market rates. Here a TV costing Rs 2 lakh was found, further suggesting that he has assets disproportionate to his income. A music system costing Rs 1.5 lakh was also found here by the Vigilance sleuths.

Documents revealed Harris has visited over 10 countries and has Rs 18 lakh bank deposit.
