Chelakkara woman arrested over extorting Palakkad youth after setting honeytrap

Thrissur: The police have arrested a 37-year-old woman who set a honeytrap for a youth and tried to extort Rs 10 lakh from him by blackmailing him.

The arrested woman was identified as Sindhu, a native of Chelakkara in Thrissur.

As per the complaint Sindhu got acquainted with the youth, a native of Chandra Nagar in Palakkad, on social media. She invited the young man to a flat in Thrissur and after a sexual relationship, she threatened to call the police. Blackmailing, she took 3.5 sovereigns of gold that he had been wearing and also managed to get Rs 1.75 lakh.

But under the pretext of returning the gold and money, she later called the youth to a lodge in Shoranur. There she took his nude image on the mobile phone and soon began blackmailing him. The youth then paid Rs 1.75 lakh.

But as Sindhu's threats continued, seeking Rs 10 lakh, the youth approached the police. She was arrested by the Thrissur East police.
