Drunk man on Maveli Express identified as history-sheeter with 5 criminal cases

According to the police, the drunk man on the train is a native of Koothuparamba. He is absconding.

Kozhikode: The drunk man who was kicked and forced to alight from the Maveli Express the other day has been identified.

The victim of police highhandedness is Ponnan Shameer, a history-sheeter.

Shameer has at least five criminal cases registered at Koothuparamba and Mahe stations, including a cases of harassing a minor girl, the police have said.

The native of Koothuparamba had been forced to get down at the Vadakara Railway Station. He is yet to be traced.

On Monday, police sub-inspector, MC Pramod, who kicked Shameer inside the Maveli Express was suspended.

The incident that was caught on camera by a passenger had later been shared on social media.

A female passenger had also alleged that Shameer had misbehaved with women on board the train.
