"This has not been an easy journey. The journey from being a victim to becoming a survivor. For 5 years now, my name and my identity have been suppressed under the weight of the assault inflicted on me. Though I am not the one who has committed the crime, there have been many attempts to humiliate, silence and isolate me. But at such times I have had some who stepped forwards to keep my voice alive. Now when I hear so many voices speak up for me I know that I am not alone in this fight for justice.

To see justice prevail, to get wrongdoers punished and to ensure no one else goes through such an ordeal again, I shall continue this journey. For all those who are standing with me - a heartfelt thank you for your love."

Slow pace of probe

The survivor had written a letter to Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Director General of Police, Anil Kanth last week, expressing her disappointment over the slow pace of the investigation into the incident that took place in February 2017. It is being alleged that the prime accused, 'Pulsar' Suni was paid by actor Dileep to kidnap and assault the female actor.

Latest developments

Filmmaker Balachandrakumar recently claimed that Dileep was in possession of the incriminating video of the assault on the actor in a moving car and he had watched it with Dileep. Soon after, an audio clip claimed to be of a phone conversation between Pulsar Suni, the main accused in the case, with a witness in the case and fellow prisoner emerged. In the clip, Suni said that he had met Balachandrakumar earlier.

Actor Dileep was arrested in July 2017 in connection with the case and was later released on bail.

Meanwhile, the police will submit before the Aluva Magistrate Court on Monday the FIR registered in connection with the new case against Dileep in which he was accused of hatching a conspiracy to make a bid on the life of the police inquiry team members.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Baiju Paulose, who is in-charge of inquiry in the actor attack case, is the complainant in the new case.

Though the Crime Branch Thiruvananthapuram unit registered the case on the basis of the statement given by Balachandrakumar, later the case was handed over to the Crime Branch, Ernakulam unit. Ernakulam Crime Branch SP Mohanachandran is investigating the case.

Balachandrankumar, in his statement, said that he was witness to a conspiracy hatched by Dileep and others to kill Baiju Paulose by hitting him with a lorry.
