Alappuzha: A drunk army man was arrested at Haripad in the district on Wednesday for bashing up his mother.
The incident came to light after the assailant Subodh's elder brother Sugu shared visuals from the incident on Tuesday night on social media.
In the visuals accessed by Manorama News, Subodh can be seen bashing his 70-year-old mother Saradamma. Subodh, who was reportedly drunk, also threw Saradamma repeatedly and twisted her hands.
The native of Muttom near Haripad had remarried after his first wife died. His brother, Sugu, who is reportedly unmarried, resides with his parents.
Neighbours told Manorama News that Subodh used to beat his mother whenever he was home on leave.
He reportedly attacked Saradamma after she refused to give her bangles and chain. Subodh's father is bedridden.
He was taken into custody by the Kariyilakulangara Police.
