SilverLine project: Laying boundary stones without talks undemocratic, says Sastra Sahitya Parishad

Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Government is planning to launch a massive propaganda drive in favour of the SilverLine Project. About 50 lakh copies of new multi-colour handbook "SilverLine Ariyendethellam" written in Malayalam will be printed by the Public Relations Department.

(The title "SilverLine Ariyendethellam" translates as 'Facts to know about SilverLine".)

The Public Relations Department has invited tenders for publishing the 36-page handbook which contains the contentions of the State Government in favour of the project.

The tenders have been invited from the most modern press. Only those having own press and having headquarters in Kerala will be eligible for participating in the tender. The last date for applying for e-tender is January 28. The tender will be opened on January 29.

The government is going to publicise the advantages of the SilverLine in a big way at a time when there is too much of opposition against the project.

Earlier, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had convened meetings at various places to explain the advantages of the project. The CPM has also decided to distribute leaflets in all households in the State, highlighting the features of the project. The party is also undertaking social media campaigns to boost up the project.

Along with all these campaigns, now the State Government is coming up with the massive distribution of handbooks.

SilverLine Project entails the construction of 530-km dedicated rail corridor to run semi high-speed trains. It is expected to reduce the travel time between Thiruvananthapuram and Kasaragod to around four hours.
