COVID: After 120 days Kerala's active case tally crosses 2 lakh; 41k fresh infections

Thiruvananthapuram: The active cases of COVID-19 in Kerala has once again crossed the 2 lakh-mark.

With 41,668 fresh cases reported on Friday, there are 2,23,548 active cases in the state.

The last time Kerala's COVID tally had crossed the 2 lakh-mark was 120 days ago.

Test Positivity Rate (TPR) remains on the higher side as after 95,218 samples were tested in 24 hours, it was recorded at 43.7%.

COVID-19-related fatalities reached 51,607 with the inclusion of 33 recent deaths to 73 previously undocumented ones.

A health department release stated that of the total cases, 3% (7,772) are hospitalised, including 1,139 admissions made on Friday.

There are 3,55,438 persons under observation in the state, of whom 3,47,666 are in home/institutional quarantine centres.

Of the fresh cases, 368 were healthcare workers while the source of infection remains unknown in 4,468. At least 36,693 contracted the virus through contact.

Meanwhile, there were 17,053 recoveries made on the day in Kerala.
