COVID: Ernakulam logs 11k of 45k cases in Kerala on Sunday; TPR at 44.9%

Thiruvananthapuram: One-fourth of the 45,449 fresh cases of coronavirus in Kerala on Sunday were reported from Ernakulam.

The central Kerala district logged 11,091 cases while Thiruvananthapuram had 8,980 fresh infections on the day.

Test Positivity Rate (TPR) was recorded at 44.9% after 1,01,252 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.

Kerala's active case tally has soared to 2,64,638 with 3.5% of those infected admitted to hospitals.

With the addition of 38 recent deaths to 39 previously undocumented ones, the state's COVID-19-related fatalities has reached 51,816.

There are 4,17,764 persons under observation in Kerala, of whom 4,08,881 are in home/institutional quarantine and 8,883 in hospitals.

Meanwhile, 27,961 persons under treatment for the infection recovered on the day.
