CPM general secretary Sitaram Yechuri said that there would not be any compromise on the party's environment protection policies.

He said that the Environment Impact Assessment study for the SilverLine Project of Kerala is to be conducted by the State Government. The State Government would take adopt all necessary procedures, including the conduct of Environment Impact Assessment.

The CPM general secretary said in Delhi that the CPM has an uncompromising stand on issues affecting environment. The State Government would give reply to various questions on the SilverLine project. Public opinion will also be sought by the government on the implementation of the project.

Yechuri released the CPM's draft political resolution to be considered by the Party Congress to be held in Kannur in April. The resolution was prepared by the party central committee meeting held last month.

The draft political resolution, while accusing the Central Government of diluting the environment conservation laws, sought the formation of a national forum comprising the representatives of State Governments, political parties and experts to deal with the grave issues concerning climate change.
