Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) is expected to seek an average power tariff hike of 92 paise per unit for the next five years from the regulatory body which has to approve the new rates.
The deadline for filing the tariff petition by KSEB with the Kerala State Electricity Regulatory Commission ends at 5 pm on Tuesday.
Even though the KSEB would be demanding an average hike of 92 paise from the upcoming financial year, the Commission is unlikely to agree in toto.
The following is a list of the various categories of KSEB consumers and the average tariff demanded by the board, while the existing rates are given in brackets:
Low tension (LT) domestic: Rs 5.66 (Rs 4.79)
LT industries: Rs 8.29 (Rs 7.41)
Agriculture: Rs 3.64 (Rs 2.75)
LT General: Rs 10.87 (Rs 9.60)
Commercial: Rs 11.13 (Rs 9.80)
Street-lights: Rs 5.44 (Rs 4.83)
Hoardings: Rs 27.11 (Rs 27.11)
High Tension (HT) industries: Rs 7.95 (Rs 7.13)
HT commercial: Rs 10.39 (Rs 9.80)
HT domestic: Rs 8.59 (Rs 7.87)
Extra high tension (EHT) industries: Rs 7.09 (Rs 5.97)
EHT general: Rs 9.17 (Rs 8.45)
Railways: Rs 7.06 (Rs 6.32)
Kochi Metro: Rs 7.18 (Rs 6.46)
