Pathanamthitta: A youth died in an accident involving a pickup van and a two-wheeler at Nariyapuram here on Wednesday. The deceased, Akhil Krishnan (32) of Mavelikara, succumbed to his injuries en route to Muthoot Hospital in Kozhencherry. He was working as a software engineer in Hyderabad.

His wife, Aiswarya (24), also a software engineer, sustained severe injuries and remains on a ventilator in the same hospital. The couple was travelling with their two-and-a-half-year-old daughter, Jhanvi, from Kaipattoor to Mavelikara after visiting Aiswarya’s family in Vallikode.

Jhanvi suffered minor injuries and is currently receiving treatment at Pathanamthitta General Hospital.
The pickup van involved in the accident was heading to Kayamkulam at the time of the collision. Police have taken the van’s driver into custody, and an investigation is underway. The body was shifted to the Pathanamthitta General Hospital mortuary. The postmortem examination is scheduled for Thursday.
