Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar was sworn in as the 23rd Governor of Kerala during a ceremony held at Raj Bhavan on Thursday. The oath of office was administered by Kerala High Court Chief Justice Nitin Jamdar at 10.30 am. Arlekar succeeds Arif Mohammed Khan, who has been appointed as the Governor of Bihar.

The ceremony was attended by Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, members of his Cabinet, and senior leaders from various political parties.

Arlekar arrived in Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday and was welcomed at the international airport by Chief Minister Vijayan, Kerala Assembly Speaker AN Shamseer, and ministers K Rajan and Ramachandran Kadannappally.

Last week, President Droupadi Murmu appointed Arlekar as the new Governor of Kerala while transferring Arif Mohammed Khan to Bihar.
