Ollur: Ollur police has vowed to take strict action against the private buses that create severe traffic blockades in the town by overtaking the long lines of vehicles. The police had convened a meeting of the bus owners the other day and urged them to give their employees proper instructions regarding this. The police warned that strict action would be taken against the buses and the employees who violate these instructions. The meeting of the private bus owners was convened by Ollur ACP S SP Sudheeran and SHO PM Vimod.
The owners of around 30 private buses running services in the Ollur – Thrissur route attended the meeting. The movement of traffic was completely blocked when a KSRTC bus broke down at the Centre a few days ago. The traffic blockade that began at 8 am could be eased only by 11.30 am. Meanwhile, many private buses overtook the long line of vehicles, further causing trouble.
The officials of the Vyapari Vyavasayi Ekopana Samiti had alerted the police about the severe traffic violations of the private buses. The police then summoned the private bus owners to give the necessary instructions. Meanwhile, Ollur Samrakshana Samiti office bearers Aloysius Kuttikat, Wilson Kakkasery, Ajo Mangan and Davis Chekkinath said that the details of all the vehicles including private buses would be handed over to the police if they violate the traffic rules. The public can also report the vehicles that break the traffic rules. The video of the vehicle, with the number plate clearly visible, should be send to the police’s WhatsApp number 9747001099.
