Three-day BJP leadership meet from Jan 16 to chalk out LS 2019 plan

Kottayam: The three-day state council meeting of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Kerala unit will begin here on January 16.

It will be the first state council of the unit after the reconstitution of the state and district committees and the appointment of Kummanam Rajasekharan as the state president.

A road map for the preparations ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections will be finalized at the council meeting.

An action plan would also be charted out to ensure the reach of central government-sponsored welfare programs to grassroots level. A string of resolutions on contemporary issues will be tabled, party sources said.

The executive committee meeting, to be held at Hotel Aiswarya on January 16, will be attended by general secretaries, state unit president and two organizational secretaries nominated by the RSS.

The BJP national leadership will be represented by general secretaries Nalin Kumar Kateel MP, B. L. Santosh, and H. Raja.

Former state presidents will also take part in the core committee meeting, to be held in the afternoon.

It will be followed by the state executive meeting in the evening, in which all the state-level office-bearers will be in attendance.

The outcomes of the three meetings will give shape to the topics and agendas to be discussed at the state council.

The state committee will meet at Hotel Aida on January 17. Nearly 250 representatives will take part in the deliberations.

Union road transport, highways and shipping minister Nitin Gadkari will inaugurate the state council meet at the Maman Mappila Hall at 9 a.m. on January 18. The subsequent meeting is supposed to be attended by 1,373 delegates.
