Chief secy Jiji Thomson denied extension Jiji Thomson

Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala cabinet has decided not to extend the term of chief secretary Jiji Thomson. Jiji Thomson is to retire on February 28.

The government was keen on a three-month extension, however, Opposition leader V.S. Achuthanandan had strongly contended against it and had even reportedly written to Chief Election Commissioner Nasim Zaidi.

A special cabinet session was convened on Monday, to take a final call on the issue.

However, Thomson will continue as the chairman of Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC).

Institute of Management in Government Director General P.K. Mohanty, who is in the rank of Chief Secretary (ACS) has been appointed as the chief secretary. However, Mohanty retires on April 30.
