Picture for representation only.Kannur: A parish priest in Kannur was slapped with a police case Monday after a woman complained that her minor daughter was raped by him.
The woman had lodged a complaint with the Childline that Fr Robin Vadakkumcherry raped the girl, a Plus One student, in May, 2016. The girl, who is reportedly 16 years of age, gave birth to a child a few weeks ago.
Based on the complaint, the police filed a case against the priest, who was serving as vicar at Kottiyoor church in Kannur.
Police have taken the priest into custody, reports said.
