Renowned writer-journalist Babu Bharadwaj passes away

Kozhikode: Well-known writer and journalist Babu Bharadwaj passed away at a private hospital in Kozhikode on Wednesday. He was 68.

Babu Bharadwaj was undergoing treatment at the hospital for heart-related ailments. He was the recipient of Kerala Sahitya Akademi award in 2006 for his novel titled 'Kalaapangalkkoru Gruhapadam'.

His other noted works include 'Pravasiyude Kurippukal', 'Shavaghoshayathra' (novelettes), 'Puppet Theatre' (short story collection), 'Pravasiyude Vazhiyambalangal' and 'Adrushya Nagarangal'.

Babu Bharadwaj was born to M.R. Vijayaraghavan and K.P. Bhavani at Chemmenchery in Kozhikode in 1948. He studied at Poyilkavu High School, Malabar Christian College, Thrissur Engineering College.

Babu Bharadwaj had also produced a Malayalam movie - Iniyum Marichittillatha Nammal, directed by Chintha Ravi in 1980.
