The horrendous incident happened on Sunday evening near Thoppikavilakom railway gate at Vakkom. The gang brutally tortured the victim - Shabeer, a native of Vakkam - using a rod.
The seriously injured youth was abandoned on the road. He was later taken to a hospital by local people after the gang fled the scene. Shabeer succumbed to injuries at the hospital on Monday afternoon.

Unnikrishnan has survived the critical stage.
Hunt on for remaining two
The case is being investigated by a police team led by Attingal DySP Prathapan Nair. Forensic department officials inspected the crime spot and collected evidence.
Shabeeer and Unnikrishnan were attacked when they were coming by a bike. The police are searching for the two youths who gave directions to the arrested people over phone. The police identified the youths from footage of the attack spread on social media and aired by news channels.
Police added that a long harboured enmity was the reason behind the planned murder.
