Riyadh: A suspected suicide bomber was killed near the US consulate in Saudi Arabia’s Jeddah city.

“Two security officers were injured as a result of the failed bombing,” media reports said.

Reports also said that the attacker parked his car outside a mosque opposite the consulate and shortly afterwards detonated his device after being tackled by security guards.

The Jeddah consulate was the scene of a militant attack in 2004, which left nine people dead.
