Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh become Union Territories

In a crucial development, the Narendra Modi government has done away with Article 370 that provides special status to Jammu and Kashmir. Minister of Home Affairs Amit Shah presented two more bills that proposed to cancel J&K's statehood and to bifurcate it into two union territories – Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir. The bills have been signed by the President.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk compares Queen Elizabeth II with Teletubbies

Known for his quirky posts on Twitter, SpaceX founder and Tesla CEO Elon Musk on Sunday took to the microblogging site to compare Queen Elizabeth II with the characters of the classic children's TV series 'Teletubbies.'

Musk drew a comparison between the Queen and the four characters who sport the same colours in the kids' TV show.

Pathanamthitta ahead in tiger count in Kerala

The Pathanamthitta district in Kerala had earlier hit the headlines with the distinction of having clean air and bountiful pure drinking water and groundwater resources, but now there is another feather in its cap. More tigers were spotted in the region than in the neighbouring districts of the state in the latest national tiger census.

As many as 10 tigers were spotted roaming the Ranni and Konni forest divisions of the district. This is in addition to the 25 tigers of the Periyar tiger reserve in the eastern region of the district.

Giant dinosaur bone found in southwestern France

Thighbone of a giant dinosaur was found this week by French palaeontologists at an excavation site in south-western France where remains of some of the largest animals that ever lived on land have been dug up since 2010.

Ronan Allain, a palaeontologist at the National History Museum of Paris, said scientists at the site near the city of Cognac have found more than 7,500 fossils of more than 40 different species since 2010, making it one of the largest such finds in Europe.
