As it happened: England overcome Sweden, enter semis after 28 years

Samara: England beat Sweden 2-0 to enter the last-four for the first time since 1990, in their quarterfinal match here on Saturday.

In the first half, England defender Harry Maguire scored his first international goal off a powerful header in the 30th minute from a corner kick by Ashley Young. Dele Alli made it 2-0 for the Three Lions as he scored off a header in the 59th minute from a lofted cross by Jesse Lingard. Three outstanding saves from Jordan Pickford awarded them their first clean sheet of the tournament.

In their next match, England will face the winners of the quarterfinal match between hosts Russia and Croatia.
