Paris: The Court of Appeal of Versailles will issue its verdict on October 14 concerning the appeals from French footballer Karim Benzema and two other defendants in the alleged blackmail of his compatriot Mathieu Valbuena about the leaking of a sex tape in September, 2015.
L'Equipe sports newspaper said on Thursday the court set the date for ruling on the appeals of Benzema, Mustapha Zouaoui and Karim Zenati, who want the charges dropped as they claim the investigation was not fair, reports Efe.

The newspaper added that if the judges were to reject the appeals, it would take several weeks until it could be established whether Benzema would go to trial for blackmail.
The Real Madrid player has been facing charges of blackmail since October, 2015.
