Asian Games hockey: Akashdeep scores six as India rout Lanka

Jakarta: Forward Akashdeep Singh scored six goals as India thrashed Sri Lanka 20-0 to end their Pool A campaign in style at the Asian Games hockey here on Tuesday.

Defending champions India led 7-0 at the half-time. Harmanpreet Singh, Rupinder Pal Singh and Manjit Singh scored three goals each, while Lalit Kumar Upadhyay scored a brace. Amit Rohidas, Dilpreet Singh and Vivek Sagar Prasad too sounded the board.

India topped the six-team Pool A with an all-win record. The team led by P R Sreejesh has scored 76 goals so far while conceding only three.

In the semifinals on Thursday, India will face Malaysia and Pakistan will take on Japan. The final will be held on Saturday.
