New York: India's Sania Mirza and her Czech partner Barbora Strycova entered the US Open women's doubles third round here on Saturday.

Sania and Strycova got the better of Swiss Viktorija Golubic and American Nicole Melichar 6-2, 7-6(5).

Sania and Strycova won the first set with ease. Though Golubic and Melichar fought back in the second, Sania and Strycova clinched the tie-breaker 7-5 to wrap up the tie.

Sania's former partner Martina Hingis and Coco Vandeweghe too advanced to the third round.

The Swiss-American pair beat Argentina's Maria Irigoyen and Poland's Paula Kania 7-5, 6-3.

Bopanna and his Canadian partner Gabriela Dabrowski defeated Lukasz Kubot and Andrea Hlavackova 5-7, 6-3, 10-7 to move into the quarterfinals.

The pair will next meet unseeded pair of Robert Farah and Anna-Lena Gr nefeld.

However, defending champions Paes and Hingis lost to American seventh seeds Coco Vandeweghe and Rajeev Ram 7-6 (1), 3-6, 13-11 after leading 8-4 in the match tiebreaker at Flushing Meadows.

The defeat marked the end of Paes' US Open campaign after he exited the men's doubles tournament partnering Andre Begemann on Saturday.
