Priyadarshan had spoken emotionally about how he had decided to hold Antony closer when the latter decided to sell the movie to the OTT.
The Priyadarshan film was earlier announced for an OTT release after producer Antony Perumbavoor and theatre owners had failed to reach an agreement.
Recently, the producer Antony Perumbavoor had confirmed that the film would be released on an OTT platform after his attempts to make a deal with theatre owners failed.
He claimed that Marakkar was too big a movie for the Malayalam cinema industry.
Though the deal has not been made public, the amount, if true, would be the highest deal with an OTT (over-the-top) platform in the country.
Earlier in the day, Marakkar's producer Antony Perumbavoor met Minister for Cultural Affairs Saji Cherian.
With a cast lead by Yogi Babu, we would have expected a roll on the floor experience like the ones Priyadarshan had offered in ‘Minnaram’ or ‘Killukkam’.
'Hungama 2' is all set for an OTT release on July 23.
