A trip to New Delhi is incomplete without a visit to the Humayun's Tomb. Close to Nizammudin, the Tomb seems to float above its symmetrical gardens. Built under the watchful eyes of Haji Begum 16 years after Humayun's death, this monument marries Persian and Mughal elements. On World Heritage Day, we bring you four times when Bollywood kept a date with Humayun's Tomb.
The most memorable may be the 'Chand Sifarish' song from the movie 'Fanaa'. The song also shows other prominent Delhi monuments. Aamir Khan takes Kajol and her friends on a tour of the city, and they stop by at Humayun's Tomb too.

More about Humayun's Tomb
Designed by a Persian architecht, Mirak Mirza Ghiyath, the Humayun's Tomb was the first garden tomb to be built in India. The construction began in 1565 and was completed by 1572 A.D.
The total cost for the construction of the tomb was 1.5 million rupees at that time.The tomb with an arched facade and inlaid band of white marble and sandstone follows strict rules of Islamic geometry. The emphasis is on the number eight, which is believed to signify paradise.
It is said that Humayun's Tomb was the inspiration behind Taj Mahal. It was declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1993.
