What does the name 'chapa' roll remind you of? If it is chapati, then you are spot on. 'Chapa Rolls' is the name of a recently-opened eatery in Kozhikode, a city that has always welcomed new tastes.

Located near the Kozhikode Beach in Silk Street, opposite the Bombay Hotel to be precise, Chapa Rolls wraps a variety of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes in a chapati. It is the idea of a young entrepreneur named Sherin Tariq. Even though it may resemble shawarma, the flavour is entirely different.

Customers can decide which dish needs to be wrapped in the chapati. Things available include imported olives and jalapeno. A number of salads too can be rolled into the chapati.

Most eateries in Kozhikode offer mayonnaise, ketchup and garlic paste. But customers can select from over 30 sauces and mayonnaise varieties at Chapa Rolls. Guests are also offered a little of the dishes to taste before ordering.

The menu includes butter chicken, chicken chilli, butter beef and other delicacies. All these items are spread over a chapatti and various sauces are added. If patrons wish, their choice of vegetables too can be included. If a mix of chicken and beef is sought, that too is provided. In case only vegetables are demanded, it would be ready.

After the sauce is applied, the chapati is rolled and heated. This is meant to allow the sauces to mix well with the other dishes and the chapa roll is served hot. It is not only filling but light on the purse as well.

Sherin was placed in a high-paying job at an event management firm abroad when the idea of chapa roll struck him. "Kozhikode has a special food culture and provides good opportunities for entrepreneurs like me. Chapa roll can be relished with family as well as friends. It is also a convenient parcel food option while travelling," explains the eatery's owner.

Franchise outlets of Chapa Rolls will be opened at other places soon, says Sherin.

"The USP of chapa roll is that so many combinations are available making the taste of the dish different during every visit of the customer. This draws guests to make repeat visits to our eatery," he adds.
