Batherry, Wayanad: The lotus pond inside the teak woods near the Pachadi forest area attracts hundreds of tourists every year. The sight of the wild lotuses blooming in the pond, surrounded by lush green forests is truly breathtaking. The wild elephants and deer too are frequent visitors here. Passersby can also enjoy the beauty of the lotus pond from the road.
A small bund constructed by NREGP laborers, two years ago, as part of their water conservation initiative, has now transformed into a beautiful lotus pond which draws lots of visitors. It was the youngsters from the nearby Pachadi colony who spread the lotus seeds in the pond. Now this incredibly beautiful lotus pond has become a favourite destination of nature lovers.
