Madhubani railway station adorned with Madhubani painting

Patna: Bihar's historic Madhubani railway station now have the added glory of Madhubani painting on its wall.

The paintings drawn on 7,000 square feet area in the station is the world's largest wall painting, claims the East Central Railway (ECR).

The painting work which was started on October 2, showcases the important local elements in the area.

The initiative was spearheaded by the NGO Craftwala, with over 200 artists being involved in the process. The artists worked without charging any fee and the ECR arranged the tools.

Madhubani is the traditional style of painting practiced by homemakers in Bihar, who use twigs, fingers, matchsticks and brushes to do it. The style is followed in Nepal's Mithila too.
