This flower carpet heralds the spirit of Onam

Onam is a festival that celebrates unity. And this giant flower carpet, which is 60ft wide took 150 people 48 hours to make. 

This giant 'pookalam' (flower carpet) was put together by the Evening Walker's Club and the District Tourism Promotion Council at the south entrance of the famous Vadakkumnatha Temple. 

This flower carpet took 1500 kgs of flowers to finish.

The 'Atham' star in the Malayalam month of Chingam is considered the first day of the 10 day Onam festival.
