Eighteen people were killed as an Air India Express flight from Dubai skidded off the runway on August 7, 2020.
The aircraft, carrying 184 passengers and six crew, fell into a 35-feet deep gorge and its fuselage split into two.
The runway is located atop a plateau. This type of runway creates an optical illusion which requires a very precise approach by the pilot.
Preliminary investigations point towards the twin effect of overshooting and aquaplaning as possible reasons.
A panel inquiring into the circumstances that led to the crash will submit its report in five months.
