Meet global icon, vocalist Chandrika Tandon who won first Grammy at 71

Chandrika was born in Chennai to father Krishnamurthy, a banker, and mother Shantha, a musician. After studying at IIM, Ahmedabad, she began her career at the Citibank in Lebanon. In 1992, she founded New-York based consultancy Tandon Capital Associates.

Chandrika was trained in Hindustani, Carnatic and Western traditions from a young age.

The Indian-American vocalist who is 71 is the older sister of former CEO of PepsiCo Indra Nooyi.

The entrepreneur-musician had collaborated with South African flautist Wouter Kellerman and Japanese cellist Eru Matsumoto for the album 'Triveni' in the Best New Age, Ambient, or Chant Album category.

This was Tandon's second Grammy nomination after 2009's 'Soul Call' and first win.  Released on August 30, 2024, each of the seven tracks on 'Triveni' tells its own story while contributing to its overarching theme of healing resonance. The songs are: 'Pathway to Light', 'Chant in A', 'Journey Within', 'Aether's Serenade', 'Ancient Moon', 'Open Sky', and 'Seeking Shakti'.
