Mindless snacking mood is at its peak during your period days. However, it's important to eat right to help you cope with its arrival. Cleveland Clinic guides us on how to go about it.
Your period food should be rich in fibre, iron and antioxidants. You should also drink enough water.
Nuts like pistachios, pumpkin seeds, fruits like raisins, figs, leafy greens and broccoli should be part of your diet.
Chicken, shrimp, clams, lentils, peas, cooked beans, and clean-cut beef can also be good iron sources.
Flavonoid-rich dark chocolate, dark berries like blueberries and strawberries, sweet potatoes, fibre-rich carrots and cruciferous veggies should also be included in the diet.
Avoid extremely sugary, salty foods like ice creams, cookies, and chips, as well as simple carbs, alcohol, and caffeine, during your periods.
